Western Wake Freeway Design-Build Project

   Minimize

The North Carolina Turnpike Authority's Triangle Expressway is one of the first U.S. toll roads to use only electronic toll collection.  The Western Wake Freeway, the expressway's largest segment, is a 12.6-mile multilane facility from NC 540 in Wake County to the NC 55 Bypass in Holly Springs.  The design-build project involved the design and construction of five interchanges, 34 bridges, and 175,000 square feet of noise walls.  Michael Baker Engineering, Inc., served as lead engineer for the Western Wake Freeway, providing design management, roadway and structure design, drainage design, signal and lighting design, and construction services.
