The City of Durham contracted with Stantec to develop a cost-effective lighting replacement plan for its South Durham Water Reclamation Facility. Stantec worked with the City, Beta LED, and Moonlite Electric & Construction, Inc., to replace 20-year-old high-pressure sodium site lighting in several locations with the latest in Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology. The project improved lighting quality for night work and reduced site lighting energy consumption. This project utilized American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) funding and is part of the City of Durham’s commitment to the CREE LED City® Program.
