Falcon provided civil and environmental engineering design services for a new 2,200 square-foot stormwater treatment system (Bio Retention Basin) ― the first in Wake County to be constructed using CCAP grant funding. The project design was developed to integrate the stormwater system into the landscape, providing the campus with the primary stormwater treatment function and an aesthetically-pleasing garden element that could be enjoyed by students and the neighboring community. This Bio Retention Basin has naturally addressed pollution and contaminates in nearby Simmons Branch, a state-listed nutrient-sensitive stream and has exceeded expectations from the regulatory community. Additionally, Falcon’s design provided special consideration to use this "green feature" as a way to teach the students and neighboring community about how sustainability best practices can be functional and beautiful.
